paper towels…never enough!
Gamsol (oderless mineral spirits), I like to have it in an easy to squeeze bottle to fill my small medium dish for thinning my paint; you may also want a small jug of linseed oil:
palette: glass palette with white paper and cardboard cushion underneath, lined with packing tape around the edges:
canvas tote with cardboard box insert:
at least two palette knives; brush cleaning solvent jug (filled with Gamsol) sitting in its own upright box (place a piece of scrap canvas or paper towels on the bottom to absorb any sloshing:
good to have in the kit: apron, scissors (for cutting paper towels, etc), pliers (for unruly paint tubes):
nice to have in some situations: folding taboret tray for palette (can be found at restaurant supply stores)
bag of paint tubes, lined with canvas or paper towels; (I label it “artist pigments” in my luggage when I am traveling by air, as the word “paint” freaks out airport security…checked bag only)
…after opening the lid, I like to keep my brush cleaning jug with solvents in its box and in my tote while I am working, it feels safer, separate, and secure there to me; I just dip my brushes in without having it out and about where it could spill. I only have the lid open when I am actively cleaning my brushes, no need to expose the solvents during the entire session!
You MUST be sure to close the clasps before taking off with it again!
always have at least one extra tube of white; I like to have a large tube of mars black, too:
wet surface carrying case: gator board with square wooden dowel glued around edges to create space for wet surface:

cold wax medium, and a scrap piece of canvas- I find this useful for designating a space on my palette for palette knives, paper towels, medium, etc:
brushes: an assortment of bristle and smooth, old and new placed in a paper towel tube taped closed at the bottom:
tools of the trade: blank credit cards, painting triangles, and ruler:
drawing kit: pencils, eraser, sharpener, triangles and rulers, tape, viewfinder; nice to keep these supplies in a separate case away from the oil materials:
surface: properly hinged and attached paper, gridded; it is always a smart self-gift to prepare this before heading out on the field:
palette carrier box: cardboard box and canvas/ drop cloth for protection; this drop cloth can also be used to cover a table or surface at your remote work station:

optional; I find I love having these nesting metal trays from STRADA-I like having a tray for my brushes, palette knife, and other supplies to keep them away from my wet paint on the palette; this can also be used to transport blobs of unused wet paint:
